I know our top picture is incredibly out of date - but I love it because it captures perfectly my life at one point. So it will stay.

Patterns

Dane is really into patterns.  Like more than usual babies.  The first pattern he noticed was these flowers on my bobby.  He tries to grab them and pick them.  All babies do this at first - but after a few days realize they can't and move on.  It has been a good 2 months of him loving patterns - especially these flowers. There have been times where he is crying uncontrollably and nothing is working and if I sit him down in front of these flowers he calms down, makes his "hawk face", starts breathing really hard and loud and "goes to work" (as we call it).  He also loves printed words in regular books (like novels or the scriptures). He gets so excited and then focused when ever he finds a good pattern. It is all pretty funny.

Megan took some random pictures

Here are a few pictures I found on my phone that Megan must have taken on a random weekday evening.  Most likely between 6-8 pm on a night that Jason has class.  This is pretty typical.

Happy baby

This was back in the beginning of February when Dane was just starting to smile and laugh.  He doesn't give his smiles or laughs away very freely - so when he does you know he means it.  He is a lot like Brock in that way.  He also still doesn't have a big laugh - it is very controlled and reserved.  But he is a very happy calm baby.  He also loves to be naked.

Temple

It was a sweet and tender day for Jason and I to take Brock to the temple to do baptisms.  Jason and I met and became friends while going to do baptisms with a group of mutual friends in high school.  Brock was so cute and very excited.  He had 5 names he had found to take with him - one he found with his grandma and grandpa Herbert.  This name meant a lot to him and he wanted to make sure he baptised him first.  Jason was able to baptise him and me.

We brought Brock's friends as well.  Dillon, Brock and Lincoln.  This was also Lincoln's first time.  They have been back to the temple almost every week since.

Dane's blessing

Dane was blessed on Sunday, February 3rd at 9:00 am in the Westridge ward in the Highlands Ranch Stake by his dad.  He slept longer then usual that morning and we had to be at the church at 8:00 am for choir practice so he got transferred from his bassinet into his car seat still in his jammies.  Wen we got to the church I took him into the mothers lounge and fed him and changed him into his blessing outfit.  At first I was a little sad we didn't get to do all of this at home - it felt very informal and rushed at the church.  But after he was dressed I was grateful to spend time just with him getting him ready.  He looked so pure and perfect and I was overwhelmed with gratitude that he came to our family and that I got to be his mom.  I hadn't planned (or wanted) to take any pictures of him in the mothers lounge - but when I set him down to "fix myself" after nursing him I was just so over come with his cuteness and love for him I had to snap a few pictures.

And one of us - just for good measure!

Jason gave a beautiful blessing - he always does.  After church we took a few pictures outside the church and a few back at home.  It was a big weekend for our our family.  I am proud of Jason, Brock, and Dane for participating in and being worthy for all of their ordinances this week.

We are so grateful to everyone who came!

especially Brooke who came alone and had a sick Caroline :(

Jaosn's birthday

Saturday night we celebrated Jason's 34th birthday.  Jason was a lucky-duck to have his mom here for his birthday and he got his favorite - trifle.

The girls made him posters about how much they love him.  They put them in my preschool mailbox as wrapping paper.

My parents got him a hunting coat, his parents gave him socks (he desperately wanted them) and I guess you could say his present from me was a new tv.  Ours was breaking and Costco had some nice ones on sale for the Super Bowl.  So he went and got one.

Brock's ordination

When the announcement was made that all 11 year olds turning 12 in 2019 would get the priesthood i cried.  I felt like I was loosing 4 months of my child's life.  But seeing him be so excited and really take on this new responsibility has strengthened my testimony of the prophet, the priesthood, and the readiness of this generation.  Brock needed this and I didn't even know it.  It took his preparation seriously and has taken his responsibilities seriously.  He walks around the chapel before church (we are there an hour early for choir) "getting it ready" - even though we are the first ward and it is already ready.  He wants to be in his place for the sacrament very early and sings the hymns and does a great job passing.  He studies his scriptures and has been working on his Duty to God.

Since Dane was getting blessed the first week of February and family was already coming for that Brock decided to wait and get ordained when family could be here.  We did the ordination at our home on Saturday evening so he could pass the sacrament with his grand parents there and could hold the microphone for Dane's blessing.  He loved being part of the blessing.

He looks pretty handsome in his new suit.

Randy and Debby took a million pictures of "before".  I included them all cuz it shows everyone that was there - and I make a few appearances - which is rare on this blog (unless its a selfie :)

The girls wanted to give Brock a present for his ordination. They wanted it to be meaningful and useful.  They spent hours and hours crocheting this Bronco's scarf that they figured he could wear while doing fast offerings.
