Lake Powell

My mom and dad purchased a time share on a house boat at Lake Powell a few years ago.  It was kind of weird because at the time they didn't even have a boat.  This last fall they finally bought a boat - so we decided to meet my family down at Lake Powell for a quick vacation.  This is the first time they had been there.  It was the first week of May - the weather was supposed to be great - 90's all weekend.  But we didn't factor how COLD the water would be.  SO COLD.  The kids jumped in once and that was enough for them.  But they still played on the beach, went on hikes, and rode around on the boat.  It was a lot of fun and the kids absolutely loved it.

We did get Noah, Megan, and Madison to tube - although we had to promise they wouldn't get dunked into the water.  Unfortunately Megan and my brother Daniel fell in after the boat was stopped.  She was a trooper though and still thought is was fun.  Brock, however, did not want to tube.  I wasn't going to let the cold water stop me and I skied several times.  The water was cold enough that your body never gets used to it - just eventually gets too numb.  :)

We played a lot of games like Dominoes and Uno.

And read books.

 

One day we had a lot of high winds which made the boat ride pretty wet.  Jason did a good job protecting the girls.

And let me just put in a word about my good husband.  If you know him you know this is not his thing.  He does not like camping, boating , water, etc.  But he does love us more than he hates those things!  But I knew this would be a lot of work and this was my parents first time having their own boat so we didn't know EXACTLY what we were doing.  So we went under the conditions that my two brothers were also coming to help out with the boats and all the "heavy lifting".  Right before we left both my brothers bailed!  It was all up to Jason.  He had to do everything.  Drive boats, set anchors, all loading and unloading.  He is so sweet to continually support MY love of camping, boating, and water.  Thanks honey!

Fun Run

I hate most school fund raisers.  But I hated this one the most.  But the kids loved it.  Get a sponsor to pay 1,3, or 5 dollars for every lap you run.  The boys were super into it and Brock turned into a regular salesman.  Me and the girls went on the day of the run to cheer them on.

 

 

I made them stop mid-lap for a picture - they were not thrilled about that.

 

They were supposed to run 35 laps - I thought for sure they would each run like 10 - Brock ran the whole thing! - But Noah had to stop at 34 laps.

Brock's Soccer

Warning - I think there are like 20 pictures of Brock playing soccer.  He is helping me with the post and really wants to include all of them so his grandma's and grandpa's can see them all.  One thing we have learned about Brock and sports since being out here is that he REALLY likes having people come to his games and watching him.  He always plays better when family is there.  He is going to have to get over it.

 

Brock still spends a LOT of time on the ground.  He loves to take a dive.  Almost every time he touches the ball he will inevitably end up on the ground - most of the time on purpose.  My little brother, Michael, was (is) the same way.

 

 

 

This is Brock's soccer friend James.  Yes, they are on the same team.  Sometimes they still fight each other for the ball.
