For family home evening one day we went on a scavenger hunt at target.  We divided up into teams and we had a list of things we had to look for and then take a picture.  Some things on our list were:

A movie we have watched together as a family.

Something for $9.99

A rainbow (or colors in rainbow order)

There were about 20 things we had to find - other items were: animal print, cheapest towel, skittles, red shoe, etc

It was a fun Family Home Evening.

Fort Collins open house

We are so blessed to live close to a temple.  The Denver Temple is only about 10 minutes away.  That is closer than almost any other temple I have lived by (exception is Provo temple for 6 years).  We are extra glad we are so close becasue the Denver temple is the only temple in Colorado and so many member have to drive hours and hours to come to the temple.  In fact when the temple closes twice a eyar for cleanings our next closest temple is 6 hours away.  So needless to say all the Saints in Colorado were so excited to have the Ft. Collins temple open.  Our children were especially excited to go through the open house.  It was a great day that I hope they will remember forever.

I mean... come on... this is not posed at all.  As soon as we walked in this is immediatly what the girls did.

Once outside everyone seemed to want a picture with dad.  I don't blame them.

Noah loves to be close to people.  He has some personal boundary issues for sure.  He is lucky becasue Jason doesn't mind and lets him be as close as he wants all the time.  The like to do this face rubbing/smelling thing.

Megan has been a Daddy's girl since she was born - she loved her dad like most babies love their mom - where as she could take me or leave me - it didn't really matter.  It is still that way.  She even said to both of us the other day, "I don't understand why I like dad better than mom, it's like I like mom, I just like dad a lot more.  Why?"

I decided to get in on the action and have Brock take a picture of us.  I had just gone to a Relief Society activity about taking pictures and the photographer said to always put your hand on your hip - so I have it a try.  I just think I look stupid.  But it is a weird angle anyways.

Noah's First day at Cub Scouts

Fishing

Monday was labor day.  Jason's parents left early that morning - but my family was staying until the afternoon.  The kids really wanted to go fishing with grandpa - so we all (not Ashley - she stayed at the hotel) took a morning trip to Chatfield Lake to try and catch a fish.

Sadly, nothing even bit.

At the end we thought we would walk along the beach for a minute - it wasn't hot so I didn't bring swim suits or anything - but it didn't take long for the kids to not care about their clothes and jump right in.  The waves were big and the LOVED jumping in them.  They played in the waves for a good hour.

Megan just wanted to play in the sand.

The girls were wearing dresses - but we just tucked them into their shorts - it worked quite well.

River Walk

After the baptism we didn't do an open house or anything becasue we wanted to spend the whole day with family.  We tried to go to this really cool garden place - but it was closed for a beer festival.  So we went on a quick walk along the South Platte river.  It was beautiful.

Noah's Baptism

Noah always has a cool claim to fame with his baptism: technically he was 7 when he was baptized.  His birthday was his baptism day - he was baptized at 10:30 am but he didn't really turn 8 until 4:01 pm, but  according to church policy that is fine.  He also got to get baptized with one of his good friends Dayton Ahlstrom.

Madison and Noah have always had a special relationship.  I think part of it is because Noah loves babies and is really good with them and he remembers her as a baby - he has loved her since she came home from the hospital.

Ha - If you know me your like, "wow, Jamie - you made a cute display table?!"  Nope!  Lucky for me (and Noah), Dayton's mom is really cutsie and put this little table together. 

Noah's baptism was so wonderful.  Noah is a very thoughtful, deep thinking boy with a lot of questions and a lot of ideas.  He has been looking forward to being baptized for a long time and is going to be a great member of the church and disciple for Jesus Christ.
