Zoo with Grandma

Grandma Herbert and Brock's Spring Break overlapped by one day - so we decided to go to the Zoo.  It was a great day to go - a little chilly at times but not hot and not crowded and the animals were pretty active.

After some coaxing we got the peacock to open it's feathers - breath taking!

After I got home and looked at the pictures it was fun because I didn't know that Debby took random pictures of me "handling" my kids.

The tiger was great - he was roaring the whole time.  It was so loud and deep and I was amazed that he hardly opened his mouth.  Madison was pretty scared.

Wheeler Farm

I have said it a million times before but Wheeler Farm is another one of my favorite places to take my kids.  The truth is it is the best things for what I ACTUALLY want to do with my kids.  I have a strong desire to hike and camp and be in the mountains with my kids.  I LOVE having them play in nature - I would so much rather have them climb a tree or a dirt pile than a play structure at a park.  The reality though is that with how young all my children are I am not 100% certain that one of them would not die or get severely hurt if the 5 of us just went up into the mountains alone - it just doesn't seem smart.  So we go to wheeler farm as my compromise - and it always delivers.

We spend the majority of our time throwing rocks and sticks into the rivers and climbing trees.
This picture makes it look like Brock is about to throw this rock on Madison - that was not the case, Madison is a good 3 feet to the left of him - don't worry.
 

This time we went on a "hike" in the "back country" - Madison was so cute just following the trail and wanting to do everything by herself.

Can't leave with out a picnic lunch.

Temple Square

By far this is my most favorite outing with my kids.  Although the older they get the "harder" it gets.  No one bats an eye when a 2 year old or a 3 year old runs around the rim of a fountain or puts their hands in and slashes.  In fact most people smile and say how cute they are.  But it is not so cute when a 4 or 5 year old do that - in that scenario they look like hooligans that have no discipline.  We are on the cusp of Brock and Noah not being able to do the things they used to be able to do because they should "know better" and temple square often amplifies that.  They are good to be obedient and follow the "new" rules, but a I am also careful to not be too naggy and let them have fun - that is the point after all. 

 

Oh, did I mention Jason got Good Friday off of work so he got to come along with us - score!

 

These two boys have become mostly silly and often annoying.  Don't get me wrong - I love them and there are some great things about them getting older - but anyone who has been around a 7 year old boy knows that they can be super annoying - it often comes out in pictures.
