We went to Utah for Thanksgiving. The original plan was to have some of Jason's family to our house for Thanksgiving. But about a month before his parents couldn't come anymore, so the rest backed out. In lieu of staying here, my parents invited us to their house, so we went to Utah and spent the week with them. The trip as a whole was fine and it was good to see everyone, and the kids were so happy to have Jason with us (he couldn't come with us during the summer), but in the details the trip was.... unfortunate. Here is why:
- We had to get 4 new tires put on the van the day before we left - who doesn't want to spend 500 dollars 5 weeks before Christmas?
- We left Friday morning - drove 50 miles in 2 1/2 hours only to find the canyon was closed. We decided to go home and try again the next day.
- Left again on Saturday morning. It took us about 4 hours to get to Vail (should take a little over an hour and a half) - I don't think we ever pushed the gas peddle for four hours - just inched along. AHH!
- My parents' dog, Sadie, died two days after we got there. It was heart breaking.
- My mom went to the emergency room for a blood clout the same day Sadie died (my mom had surgery a few weeks before we came.)
- While driving on the freeway our van window blew out of the car. You read that right. Just blew right out and down the freeway. It took days and days to get it fixed. More unforeseen car costs!
- We all got sick. Like didn't do half the things we wanted to do because we just laid around the house sick. It sucked.
But like I said, despite all that - it was wonderful and well worth it. We had a DELICIOUS Thanksgiving dinner and loved doting on the three 18 month olds our families have. The children have really upped their game in lobbying for another baby.
